Mikrocertifikat.cz help
- 1.What is the purpose of Mikrocertifikat.cz?Mikrocertifikat.cz was created within the framework of the National Renewal Plan for the Higher Education Sector for 2022-2024 (NPO project for short) and serves as a unified information system for verifying the results of smaller forms of education at higher education institutions in the Czech Republic. For more information about the system and its functions, see Output #6 of the NPO project available here (in Czech).
- 2.What is a micro-credential?A micro-credential (-s plural) is an electronic record - a certificate - of the completion of a small-scale unit of learning expressed in ECTS credits and the achievement of clearly defined and coherent learning outcomes, i.e. a set of knowledge, skills and attitudes that constitute competences. These units of learning are included in the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), are subject to a system of standardised quality assurance processes and are assessed against transparent and clearly defined criteria. A unit of learning may be, for example, a Lifelong Learning programme within the meaning of Section 60(1) of Act No 111/1998 Coll., the Higher Education Act, or a set of programmes (several concurrent or related Lifelong Learning programmes).
- 3.What kind of micro-credentials are being issued and verified by Mikrocertifikat.cz?Mikrocertifikat.cz utilizes the European Digital Credentials For Learning format (abbreviated as EDC) for micro-credentials. EDCs exist in the form of JSON-LD files (file extension .jsonld) and each of them contains a qualified electronic seal of the system as the issuer of the micro-credential. EDCs can be verified by Mikrocertifikat.cz, Europass verification tool EDCI Viewer, or by any other reputable tool compatible with the EDC specification. The system also generates certificates in PDF format to accompany the issued micro-credentials and to present their most important contents. For more information about the design of the PDF certificates and the presented data fields, see Output #3 of the NPO project available here (in Czech).
- 4.How can I verify a micro-credential?To verify a micro-credential, you must have access to the internet.
Verifying a micro-credential using a certificate
If you have a physical or electronic (PDF) certificate, you will find a QR code and a verification link on the back of the certificate in the format https://mikrocertifikat.cz/verify/.... You simply scan the QR code with your mobile device to gain access to the Mikrocertifikat.cz verification application, where you will be able to browse the contents of the micro-credential. If you are unable to scan the QR code, please follow the instructions in the following section "Verification of the micro-credential using a verification link".Verifying a micro-credential using a verification link
If you have a verification link in the format https://mikrocertifikat.cz/verify/..., you can simply click on it (if it is clickable) or copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser. Alternatively, the identifier part of the link (the last 12 characters) can be typed into the text box on the front page of the system in the "Select a micro-credential" section. This identifier is case-sensitive. Click on the "View micro-credential" button to proceed to the verification application.Verifying a micro-credential file
If you have a micro-credential file (file type JSON-LD, extension .jsonld), you can upload it to the system for verification on the system's front page under "Verify a micro-credential from a file". We process the uploaded micro-credential only for this single verification procedure and do not store it further.
